Anticipation Devotion List of Props and Materials

The following props are just suggestions for a way to capture the attention of your children.
Visuals are a great way to help them remember.
While some of the food and props may be fun for the children to experience,
Please continue to remind them that the 10 Plagues were far from fun…
This was God’s great judgment leading to
His Great Deliverance!

Day 1: History of Passover
     Your Bible will be needed for each devotion

Day 2: More Preparations for a Simple Seder
Moses movie
Rod and toy snake for your talk about Moses’ call

Day 3: Bondage and Slavery – Movie Night (Watch a Moses movie)
Handcuffs
Food - Charoset (apples, walnuts, grape juice) or chunky applesauce
Chocolate rocks for bricks (WalMart)

Day 4: Plague One – Blood
Red food coloring to color water
Red drinks: tomato juice, red juices, red zinger tea
Swedish fish
Food:  Strawberry applesauce, tomato soup, italian sauce - spaghetti / lasagna
Symbolic Food – Romaine lettuce or parsley and horseradish
Play dough - you will need this to shape a heart as you discuss hard hearts

Day 5: Plague Two – Frogs
Gummy frogs
Frog shaped cookies
Miniature frog toys to place around
Toy plastic frog (med. Size) for frog in boiling water illustration on sin
Live frog – you can purchase these at the School Box or Learning Express

Day 6: Plague Three – Gnats / lice
Anything to symbolize lice – photographs, tiny insects
Perhaps you might have hairbrushes since we are familiar with lice in hair
Pan of sand – for dust

Day 7: Plague Four – Flies
Flies – photographs, hole punched flies to place around
Perhaps a fly swatter
A model of a simple plastic heart – for discussion on a hardened heart

Day 8: Plague Five – Disease of Livestock
Any item to represent sick livestock – photographs, cow shaped cookies, etc.
Clock

Day 9: Plague Six – Boils
Band-aids
Ashes
Something to symbolize blood

Day 10: Plague Seven – Hail
Barnyard set with animals
Popcorn / small pieces of ice / marshmallows
Frozen drinks – ice slushies, snow cone

Day 11: Plague Eight – Locusts
Any kind of plastic locust or grasshopper / Library books help
A dead plant
Megaphone

Day 12: Plague Nine – Darkness
Sunglasses
Lamp
Prepare your home to be dark

Day 13: Plague Ten – Death of the First Born
You will need something to symbolize blood over your door
Cross

Simple Seder Feathers and broom
Crumbs
Matzo
4 cups for each (smaller size for children)
Juice
Eggs
Salt water
Afikomen bag
Goodie basket of prizes for the children who answer the questions correctly
