Dr. Denmark's Baby Food Recipe (Mush)

According to 100+ year old pediatrician, Dr. Denmark, babies are ready for solid food when they begin to drool and cut teeth.  The recipe below is for babies over five months.
*Before trying a new food with baby, wait four days to be sure there are no food allergies

Breakfast
• 2 tablespoons fruit (applesauce or prunes if constipated)
• 3 tablespoons protein (cooked black eye peas, lean meat, egg)
• 3 tablespoons starch (rice cereal, oatmeal)
• 1 banana

All of the above should be well pureed, mixed together, boiled for three minutes, and served warm. It is best to serve the food right out of the pot to reduce the possibility of contamination.
(I blended my baby food in the blender and stored it in a container in the refrigerator then cooked each portion at each meal).

Lunch
• 2 tablespoons fruit
• 3 tablespoons protein
• 3 tablespoons starch
• 3 tablespoons vegetables (leafy or green vegetables are best because of high iron)
• 1 banana

Supper
• Same as lunch

Water to drink, never fruit juice – sugar content too high…better to eat an apple!
