Purchasing Meats

Chicken:

  • 8 whole = yields 20 cups of cooked chicken  or 12 boneless breasts = yields 12 cups of shredded chicken (buy two packages of split breasts)
  •  Ground meat (20 lbs.) – sirloin is more expensive, but the better quality allows for more meat, less fat.
  •  Hamburgers – purchase prepared patties (one pkg. provides enough for two cookouts). I freeze these in two packages so they are ready to thaw and grill or broil.
  •  Cube Steak – Purchase enough for two dinners (Six large pieces for each package)
  • Stew Meat – I freeze this as is, but cut up and ready for the crock pot
Roasts:

  • Chuck for the crock pot
  • Eye of the round for slow oven cooking
